Today is National Intern Day and we're featuring our QCBT Summer Interns! Meet Collin Mendoza, QCBT Retail Banking Summer Intern and John Molyneaux, QCBT Credit Department Intern:

Name: Collin Mendoza

Academic background: Junior this fall at Augustana College studying finance, communications, and pre-law.

Intern position: Retail Banking Summer Intern

Internship start date: May 30th

Describe your internship responsibilities: Work full time as a teller at Brady and relocate when needed to other branch locations. Also have had the chance to visit with Investments at Utica.

What have you learned/enjoyed so far in your internship at QCBT? I have become far more financially literate and enjoy a fast-paced but fun working environment. Everyone has been so helpful since my first day in understanding the procedures of the bank and how to process different transactions. The biggest takeaway from this experience is that precision attention to detail matters, to be quick but never hurry, and to be an active listener.

Why did you choose to do an internship at QCBT? How did you hear about this opportunity? I value a sense of community and from my first day the work environment felt like just that. I heard about the opportunity doing online job searching.

What do you enjoy doing outside of work (hobbies, interest, etc.): I enjoy playing soccer, lifting, and going on trips with friends over the weekends, like to the lake. Time to time I'll play video games too or watch investigative documentaries (shoutout Alissa)

What is one thing you love to do in the Quad Cities: I love to go explore and walk around nature like at Sylvan Island or Blackhawk State Park

Name: John Molyneaux

Academic background: Sophomore this fall at Clemson University, studying financial management.

Intern position: Credit Department Intern

Internship start date: May 31st

Describe your internship responsibilities: My main responsibility has been to compare an document with a list of loans to Signature and InfoPro in order to check to make sure everything is correct and where it should be.

What have you learned/enjoyed so far in your internship at QCBT? I have definitely learned more about the credit side of banking and especially how important it is to keep everything organized because of the sheer number of loans. I have really enjoyed all the people I have met here especially the people in the credit department, they have all been great.

Why did you choose to do an internship at QCBT? How did you hear about this opportunity? I originally applied for the Summer Teller position but after I applied I received an email back with an offer for the internship and it seemed like a great opportunity.

What do you enjoy doing outside of work (hobbies, interest, etc.): I really enjoy playing golf and going to the gym to workout. Pretty much everyday after work I am either golfing or at the gym. I also enjoy hanging out with my friends, listening to music, and playing the piano.

What is one thing you love to do in the Quad Cities: As I said, I am a big golfer so I love to play all the great courses we have here in the Quad Cities.

Is there anything you'd like to mention? This has been a great experience so far!
