Volunteer Spotlight 2

Brittany Bellows, QCBT Vice President, Financial Reporting Manager, volunteers at a variety of organizations around the Quad Cities:

Name of organizations for which you volunteer:

  • Junior League of the Quad Cities
  • Girl Scouts of Eastern Iowa and Western Illinois Troop 2403
  • Park View Owner's Association
  • Quad City Community Foundation

Why do you volunteer at these organizations?

I volunteer with JLQC to help the QC community in various ways and in more recent years to focus on women's health initiatives by partnering with the YWCA and Vera French Foundation.

I volunteer for Girl Scouts as a Troop Leader as I believe GS develops leadership and social skills at a young age and teaches young girls about philanthropy.

I volunteer with PVOA to ensure the local community I reside in has leadership and looks out for the homeowners of Park View.

I volunteer on the Audit Committee of QCCF to use my accounting/audit skills in a way that can help others.

What do these organizations mean to you?

JLQC is an amazing organization for women. It allows women from all facets of life to work in groups, make friends for life, develop leadership skills, learn a plethora of life skills, all while volunteering to helps those in need in the QC. It's a great way to make an impact in various organizations. In my five years with JLQC I have volunteered/fundraised for QC Haven of Hope, Dress for Success, YWCA, Vera French Foundation, Girl Scouts, various high schools and non-profits through hygiene drives, World Relief of the QC and others.

Girl Scouts continues to build confidence in young girls as they have now for 100 years. The opportunities these young girls have in the QC is a direct reflection on the dedication of our GSEIWI council. I started a brand new Daisy Kindergarten group in 2021 and have already seen such growth in these little girls. I cannot wait to see what's in store over the years!

PVOA is the pillar of Park View Iowa. Many may not know that Park View is unincorporated and the PVOA Board ensures that homeowner's are living in a beautiful and safe community. QCCF is a wonderful organization that financially helps so many other organizations in the QC. Their success directly impacts the success of many others around.

Please share anything else you'd like us to know about your volunteerism:

I also enjoy volunteering for organizations in a smaller capacity and not necessarily a long term commitment. I have volunteered at many events that were just a one time event (such as a 5k, garbage cleanup etc.).

I just recently was an education grant reader for Scott County Regional Authority for three years and stepped down in 2022 to dedicate more time to Girl Scouts.

I was a Big with BBBS of Muscatine for two years when I was working at HNI. Prior to that, I was the Accounting Chair for Relay for Life of Rock Island County for most of the five years of my career at RSM/McGladrey.
